Mercedes-Benz models are always forward-thinking. That’s never been more evident than with the Tomorrow XX technology in new Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Mercedes-Benz of Wilkes-Barre is sharing all the details.
Ambitious Sustainability Goals
Mercedes-Benz aims to make new models that are more sustainable, no matter what their drivetrain may be. They have established Design for Environment and Design for Circularity principles to work towards that goal. New models are being designed with the intention of reducing drivers’ carbon footprints and minimizing our consumption of primary and finite resources.
Future-Facing Technology
With the Tomorrow XX technology program, models are being designed to be more sustainable while still meeting our strict standards. The program focuses on decarbonization and resource use from the initial design phase to the end of a vehicle’s lifespan. It’s also done in partnership with suppliers to ensure that even parts and components are more sustainable.
Program Details
More than 40 new component and material concepts have been undergoing research and development, with a recent unveiling. There have been attempts across the board, from developing recyclable headlights to designing new joining technology, so parts are easier to break down and recycle. The new exhibit showcases recent efforts and points to enormous potential.
Research Efforts
All parts are being put under the microscope, from the battery to the insulation. Researchers and developers are checking to see which products can be easily dismantled or which need to be redesigned. They’re also looking to see which products should be replaced to reduce emissions or use fewer resources.
