Here at Mercedes-Benz of Wilkes-Barre, we know that crossovers and SUVs are hot right now. That's why we were so excited to see the official unveiling of a new Mercedes-Benz model that promises to be the “Mercedes-Benz S-Class of SUVs.” The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS has made its official debut in Salt Lake City, and here's what you need to know about it.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS will offer three rows of seating, with the ability to transport up to seven people. A longer wheelbase and more spacious interior ensure that everyone will be comfortable. The Mercedes-Benz brand even brags that passengers who are well over six feet tall will be comfortable in the traditionally tinier third row.

This new Mercedes-Benz SUV will come equipped with the latest technology, including the MBUX infotainment system with advanced voice controls. It shares an interior design with the Mercedes-Benz GLE, which means LED ambient lighting and a dashboard with dual displays. You also get a Burmester premium sound system. The big news might be the new E-Active Body Control suspension though. It keeps the Mercedes-Benz GLS flat no matter what kind of surface it's on and has a “rocking” mode that can get you loose from sand or mud.

Two different models will be available in the United States. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 comes equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that puts out 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The range-topping Mercedes-Benz GLS 580 offers a 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Both also come equipped with a 48-volt “EQ Boost” mild-hybrid system that can boost horsepower and torque temporarily.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS will arrive later this year, but you can visit our Mercedes-Benz dealership near Scranton, PA to check out our selection of luxury vehicles right now.
